*Music:Special Arrangement "A Doberman hymn" from"The Daring Dobermans" Theme . . Arco, you truly were a once-in-a-lifetime Dobermann. You gave us many fond memories. Although you are no longer within sightAnd moved on to greener pastures, You will always be with us.The footprints you left on our heartsCan never be erased. All of us who loved and knew youWill miss you very much. . . This is Arco's Story...A True Champion, he was the only non-rescue in the pack of four Dobermans of Christa and Heinz Pfeiffer. Here is his story, written by his owner, Christa, on the eve of his death. Dear Friends: With a broken heart and teary eyes, I am writing the last chapter of Arco's short, but so very full and certainly never dull, life. I will never forget the day we first met Arco. He was the most well behaved puppy, with the darkest eyes I had ever seen...Needless to say, it was love at first sight. We decided, (it was really myself, Heinz would have been content with having a couch potato) that we would show Arco in conformation. What an experience! It certainly is different. So far I had only known the obedience ring. Enough said. Arco did very well. He became an AKC Champion, had multiple Best of Breed, and a five point Major under his belt. In the first 2-1/2 years of his life he accumulated 113 awards with more to come. In his spare time he also became a Canadian Champion. He was a Dog Scout and also a Therapy Dog, and earned his C.D.,T.T., and CGC. What fun we had. There were so many more things we did, too numerous to mention. But best of all he was my boy, and what a great and obedient boy he was. I remember one time when we had to wait for three hours at an event 'till it was our turn. I had the back door of the Van wide open and I was not always there, but Arco made no attempt to leave. He held his stay the entire time. This is what it takes to be a great dog. He was good in everything he did. As a matter of fact he was trying to please me 'till the very last second of his life. Heinz had let all four of the Dobermans outside. When he called them in for dinner, only two came. He asked me to get the other two, which were Tessa and Arco. I first called Tessa and told her to go inside, which she willing did, then I called Arco to Front. As usual he came running, did a perfect Front, and then collapsed at my feet. By the time I bent down his heart had already stopped beating. I checked his jugular vein, no pulse. His chest, no heartbeat. I checked his leg, nothing. In an instant, it was all over. Our boy, our beautiful wonderful boy was gone. It will never be the same without him. He is sorely missed. Christa This is one of the last photos of the entire Pfeiffer Doberman gang. Ch.Arco, rescues: Little Omi, Tessa and the challenging Stormy, with their loving human, Christa. A Sad footnote...Arco's favorite buddy, Little Omi, a Senior rescue Doberman, followed him in death three months later. They had been inseparable...always together including sleeping curled up together. She was never the same after he died, and literally melted into ill health and sadness. She still slept on their spot and none of the other Dobes were ever allowed there. .... . . The background photo is of Two Champions...Arco at the statue of Marine War Dog Hero, Kurt . .
